Dissemination - Promotion of the generated knowledge

by evgnadmin last modified 2008-02-19 16:57

Given the general public concern regarding cardiovascular disease, the EVGN communicates also its major research discoveries and their implications in lay terms to the general public via free access to the EVGN website. EVGN participants do communicate their research findings in lay terms to the general public via a coordinated series of presentations within this very area.

You are not a scientist but would like to see what it means to be a white-coat pipette-man? In this page you can travel throughout Europe, visiting EVGN laboratories, getting to know the scientists who study cardiovascular disease and fight to solve what is one of the most underestimated health problem. The following sections are updated on a regular basis. The items in the left vertical menu help you to deepen your knowledge on the clinical and molecular aspects of heart disease and scientist working on it.

The heart is an amazing organ that can beat over 3,5 billion times during your lifetime. It works as a powerful pump propelling the blood through arteries and veins, and delivering oxygen and nutrients to tissues and organs. As you age it gets older and weaker. No wonder. However even at a younger age, in a strong and active person, the heart can develop cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Skills and expertise within the EVGN consortium are highly heterogeneous and complementary.
This is an added value that allows the scientists to address cardiovascular disease (CVD) from three major different perspectives.
