The first EVGN Conference Linking Europe in the fight against heart disease

From Monday December 13th to Thursday December 16th the European Vascular Genomics Network (EVGN) organizes at the New Hall College in Cambridge (UK) “The first annual European Vascular Genomics Network Conference”.

The first annual EVGN Conference will mark the first year of the entry into force of the EVGN, the first ever European Union funded Network of Excellence in the field of cardiovascular disease, whose aim is promoting multidisciplinary interaction by uniting 25 basic and clinical institutions (encompassing 35 academic groups), 2 biotechnology companies and 1 management company, from 10 EU Member or Associated States.

The attendees will present their latest non-published results pertaining to the three research focus areas of the EVGN: endothelial dysfunction, atherosclerotic plaque rupture and therapeutic angiogenesis. The 26 sessions scheduled will also include 2 technical workshops on Genomics and Proteomics, as well as one on Communication and one on Exploitation of discoveries. State-of-the-art research results will be presented on: clinical perspectives on endothelial dysfunction; atherosclerotic plaque destabilization mechanisms and therapy; use of stem cells to treat coronary heart disease; vaccination against atherosclerosis; postgenomics approaches to cardiovascular disease.

WHAT: “The First European Vascular Genomics Network Conference”

WHERE: At the New Hall College, Cambridge, UK. New Hall is situated on Huntingdon Road,
1 mile to the northwest of Cambridge City Centre. Cambridge is only 45 minutes by coach from
Stanstead airport. Coaches operate hourly. Cambridge is served by frequent trains from London.
